Custom Insect Screens Designed for Florida Homes
Florida’s warm climate makes patios, lanais, porches, and other outdoor areas perfect for relaxing and entertaining, but mosquitoes, flies, and other insects can quickly disrupt your time outside. Hurricane Zones® offers custom insect screens designed to create a more comfortable outdoor environment while maintaining the open-air experience Florida homeowners enjoy. Our motorized insect screens provide an effective barrier against unwanted pests without sacrificing airflow, natural light, or views of your property. With the touch of a button, the screens can be lowered when insects become a problem and retracted when you want your outdoor space completely open. Every insect screen system is customized around the size and layout of your home, whether you are looking for motorized patio screens, retractable lanai screens, automated outdoor screens, or motorized porch screens. Our retractable insect screens also maintain a clean appearance when not in use, making them a practical addition to both new and existing outdoor spaces. With decades of experience serving Florida homeowners, Hurricane Zones® combines professional installation, dependable screen technology, and custom solutions to help you enjoy your patio or lanai with fewer unwanted insects throughout the year.
Real Results. Real Customers.
What Areas of a Home Can Insect Screens Enclose?
Insect screens can be installed across many covered openings where homeowners want to reduce mosquitoes, flies, and other pests without permanently closing off the space. Patios and lanais are common applications, particularly when large openings connect an outdoor living area to a backyard or pool deck. Retractable insect screens can also enclose covered porches, outdoor kitchens, seating areas, and entertainment spaces while allowing fresh air to continue moving through the area. For larger openings, motorized insect screens provide a practical way to cover wider spans that may not be suitable for traditional screen doors or fixed screening. Depending on the structure of the home, screens may also be incorporated into openings around gazebos and other covered outdoor areas. Because the dimensions and construction of these spaces vary, insect screens are typically measured to fit each individual opening. The appropriate installation location depends on available mounting surfaces, opening dimensions, electrical access for motorized systems, and how the space is regularly used.
What to Expect During Your Insect Screen Installation
Insect screen installation typically begins with evaluating the opening where the screen will be placed, whether it is a patio, lanai, porch, or another covered outdoor area. Accurate measurements are taken to determine the appropriate dimensions and mounting points for the system. For motorized insect screens, installers also consider access to power, the placement of the housing, and the path the screen will follow as it raises and lowers. Because Florida homes vary in architecture and outdoor layouts, retractable insect screens are generally customized to the individual opening rather than installed as a standard-size product. During installation, the screen housing and track system are secured to the structure, followed by adjustments to help the screen operate smoothly and maintain proper alignment. Once installation is complete, the motorized screen is typically tested through multiple cycles. Homeowners are also shown how to operate the controls and provided with information about basic cleaning and maintenance for continued performance.
